Teen movies usually revolve around the same few topics of interest that are preferred by adolescents these days — starting with not fitting in social groups, to love stories, friendship drama, and the list goes on. But how come the best teen movies have typically been based on classic literature and stories as old as time? Well, there is no secret that, during your teen years, hormones dictate the way we control our emotions. For this reason, young adults find themselves looking to participate in situations that make them feel all sorts of emotions, good or bad.

J aiden Stipp was watching a Star Wars movie at his afternoon youth group in Tacoma, Washington, last March when the bids started coming in. Then it was more. Eventually Stipp—who is 15 years old and will soon be starting his sophomore year of high school—sold his artwork, a digital illustration of a waving, astronaut-like cartoon figure, for 20ETH. And then at the bank. On a whim, he made his astronaut cartoon into an NFT non-fungible token , put it up for auction, and became a blue-chip artist overnight.

Pearson School Board, which oversees the West Island high school the two girls attended. The school culture is rampant with overt racism, often disguised as jokes, Black students said. Various parents with children there said it had perhaps two to three dozen Black or mixed-race kids. Her mother said her daughter used to come home crying about every second day in elementary school, talking about how the other kids said she was ugly. The mother also grew up in Montreal and recalls being spat at, having things thrown at her as she walked home, and called the same names. She said one time a Black student was even physically pushed around during an argument about the Black Lives Matter movement. I do not support anybody using the N-word. Both girls also said they want the school administration to take these incidents much more seriously, cracking down with suspension, expulsion or at least detention. Kemba Mitchell, the chairperson of the West Island Black Community Association, said that her daughter was called the N-word in elementary school, too.
